PROJECT M’S 2023 Astria Pinot Blanc is an indulgance of winemaker Jerry D. Murray’s relentless pursuit of the Virtues of Precision and Purity. Astria is a dry white wine with flavors of firm white peach and green apple, streaked with a hint of raw shitake mushroom. Hints in wet stone or oyster shell tint the nose and finish. The acidity speeds the wine across the palate like an Italian sports car that parks itself on the finish. Not to be confused with pinot gris, which the Willamette Valley is known for, this Pinot Blanc stakes out stylistic ground that highlights the unique identity of Pinot Blanc. Like all PROJECT M wines it pairs beautifully with a wide variety of foods but shows a special affinity for anything from the sea. However, it is capable of relieving and refreshing on its own.
